Claire Christie is a Chicago-based dance artist, choreographer, educator, and Adjunct Faculty at Elmhurst University. She completed her undergraduate education at Elmhurst University in Elmhurst, Illinois, where she studied Digital Marketing Communications and Dance Education. She went on to earn her MFA in Contemporary Dance from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was awarded both a Fellowship and Assistantship and studied under the mentorship of Karen Potter and Gary Galbraith.

As a performer, Claire has had the opportunity to work with and perform pieces by numerous distinguished artists and educators. She performed the role of The Chorus in Martha Graham’s Cave of the Heart as part of the first cast to stage the work outside of the Martha Graham Dance Company. Her performance credits also include works by Yidi Lin, Amy Lyn McDonald, Richard Oaxaca, Karen Potter, Joel K. Linebach, Janice Rosario, and others.

Claire’s choreographic work spans several dance forms and has been presented in both academic and professional settings, including Fluence Arts Organization in Albion, MI, Still Inspired’s Future Artists Program in Chicago, and her MFA thesis concert Emergence.  She is a member of the International Association for Dance Medicine & Science (IADMS) and presented research at their annual conference in Las Vegas, NV in September 2025. Claire is also the recipient of Case Western Reserve University’s Excellence in Teaching and Excellence in Performance Awards, as well as Elmhurst University’s Theatre Leadership Awards.

Claire has worked with dancers of all ages and experience levels and continues to pursue opportunities in performing, choreographing, and teaching. Through her work as both an artist and educator, she is passionate about cultivating technical excellence, artistic voice, and creative curiosity while supporting the development of the holistic dancer, emphasizing wellness, longevity, and a deeper connection to the art of movement.
